South Coast at a glance

The KwaZulu Natal South Coast lies south of Durban between the towns of Hibberdene and Port Edward. The South coast is accessible via a modern highway from Durban and by air to Margate airport. This subtropical region boasts lush vegetation of coastal bush, wild palms and wild flowers. The Hibiscus flower has been adopted as the symbol of the region.

The weather on the South Coast is fabulous all year long. Winters are mild with warm sunny days and cool evenings. Summers are warm and sunny with evening thunder storms and rain showers. Seasoned travellers have rated our weather as being the best ... anywhere.

One of the main attractions of the South Coast is the incredible number of unending, stunning beaches, we are proud to have seven of the province’s nine Blue Flag beaches in our area making this an unbeatable holiday destination, this is why tourism is major industry, visitors’ stream from inland during the seasonal highs in December and in April. The winter months of May, June and July offer tourists beautiful weather conditions for angling and surfing on excellent wave formations.
The South Coast has six golf courses, some of which are amongst the best in the land. Seasoned golfers have been moved to describe the South Coast as the Golf Coast.
The South Coast is well served with shopping centres. The commercial hub of the South Coast would arguably be Shelly Beach with two major shopping centres and many retail outlets in the vicinity.

Healthcare is in good hands with two private hospitals, one in Margate and in Port Shepstone and a large government hospital in Port Shepstone. Education on the South Coast is well catered for, there are two private schools and many government schools.

The South Coast has become a preferred retirement haven, with a number of homes for the aged to choose from.
This coastal strip is dominated by residential homes, many of the sought after beach front properties are owned as holiday homes, there has been a surge in demand for beachfront holiday apartments with the result that developments of this nature have burgeoned in recent times.

The long term prognosis for residential property on the South Coast is excellent, there is a discernible drift from inland to the coastal strip in South Africa and the predictions are that this trend will grow in the future. Property investment on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast therefore becomes a wise and prudent decision, with excellent value for money available.
