The Executive

The executive is an exclusive residential estate with 56 freestanding residential units and 64 apartments. The vision to create a prestigious, contemporary hilltop development that is the ultimate residential estate in Durban. Set in lush, subtropical vegetation, the architecture is modern, featuring hanging and cantilevered decks, terraces and light timber screen elements, to create the effect of a building structure that floats on the hillside. It is a modern interpretation of the organic principals demonstrated by Frank Lloyd Wright at the falling water residence (1937). The exceptional hilltop site provides a visual panorama of the Indian Ocean and the Northern Coast shoreline, and a vista through to the Durban harbour mouth. The project falls within what was previously coastal forest habitat and our aim is to rehabilitate this in the public open spaces. The landscape plan includes two retention dams and some 6000 trees. A portion of the surrounding edge of the estate forms part of a conservation area, which is protected under the conditions of the of the Environmental Impact Assessment submitted to the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs.Planting here is 100 percent indigenous to encourage bio-diversity on the site, and nature trails and water features will link into this area.
